About the Management

Server Management is one of the most important departments in the Deanship of Information Technology, as it is responsible for overseeing the implementation of projects infrastructure for the network and computers, operating systems. It is also responsible for taking the necessary measures for their operation and maintenance, and for putting the technical specifications that support the information technology at the university level and link it to the rest of its affiliates.

 Because of the expansion of the scope of responsibilities and tasks of the Network Management and starting from a willingness to accomplish the tasks in a distinct manner, therefore the management has been divided into four main sections (the working partition ,. The Department has been preparing studies for the infrastructure of the University and its application so as to provide full integration between all the parts, and then its management to ensure presence around the clock. It also deals with the periodic maintenance requirements of the University servers and equipment.

Management Tasks

• Operation and control of the central computers, and report of any technical malfunction occurring to them to the maintenance company.
• Run daily routine programs, and print reports on the colleges and various departments of the university and deliver them to the people in charge.
• Make backup copies of your system to refer to them when problems occur or disaster, God forbid.
• Maintenance of personal computers of all the departments and colleges and deanships and various university centers in terms of software only.
• Installation of new personal computers and link them to the network; installing the University's programs in them and linking them to printers, if any.
• Solving the daily problems of device and network, and consulting staff and faculty members through technical sections.
• Develop technical specifications for projects related to information technology and then study them and lay on the companies presented to the tender.
• Processing and linking the buildings to infrastructure to be operable and activate the wired and wireless networks and visual communications in the future.
• Oversee the work of companies in the implementation of infrastructure and business networking within the university and in all branches of the university until the completion of the project implementation.
• Processing, operation and maintenance of servers responsible for browsing the World Wide Web (Internet) and the work of the necessary security settings on the system.
• Making the security updates for operating systems, devices added within the University network and automatically updates for the antivirus.
• Equipping and operating collection points (Nodes), which use exchange reserves to run services (Printer) (WINS) (DHCP) for all buildings related to the assembly points.
• Anti-virus processing servers and connecting them to the assembly points (Nodes) to protect connected devices of all buildings related to the assembly points.
• Follow-up and maintenance of Active Directory, responsible for the application of security policies, user names and passwords on the internal network at the university.
• Provide technical support by resolving the difficulties of online services offered to subscribers.
